Satellite gets Great Park office online after a year-long wait
An office at Great Park in Gosforth is finally up and running after Fuse delivered a satellite connection at a site that a national provider had said it could not serve.
CASA had spent twelve months trying to establish a reliable data connection. A fixed-line order accepted by a national provider was eventually cancelled because there was no serving infrastructure at the location.
With a year gone and still no working connection, the building's managing agent put CASA in touch with Fuse.
"By the time we got the call, the client had been trying to get connected for a year," says founder and director Jamie Mableson. "The last thing they needed was to spend more money and more time waiting on another answer that might not work.
"So we started with the cheapest option to test. We knew mobile coverage in the area was weak, so rather than commit them to a full 5G installation, we put one in on trial. If it worked, they had a quick, low-cost answer. If it didn't, they'd spent very little finding out."
The trial showed that the signal would not reliably support what the office needed. Rather than leave the client on a marginal connection, Fuse called it and moved to satellite.
Following a full site survey covering cable routes, access and equipment positioning, Fuse specified a current-generation Starlink connection. It was installed on 14 September 2026, on the date agreed with the client, and worked immediately.
"Being honest when something isn't good enough is part of the job," says operations director Elliot Leese. "A connection that drops out every day would have frustrated the client for months. Satellite doesn't rely on mobile coverage, so it was the right answer for this site, and it was online from the moment we switched it on."
Jamie adds: "The difficult sites are the ones where the obvious option isn't available. If a supplier only sells one answer, they'll either sell you the wrong one or tell you it can't be done.
"We carry every option, from fixed lines and 5G to satellite, so we can try the sensible answer first, be straight when it doesn't hold up, and move to the one that does. After a year of trying, the client paid to find out what worked once, not twice.
"It's also why managing agents refer tenants to us. A connectivity problem that drags on is a problem for the tenant, the agent and the landlord all at once."
